The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.” Psalm 16:6
That’s what the beautiful photo above assures me of. (taken from my terrace)
So, this Magical Monday, recognise that:
Many pleasant opportunities await you as you step out towards your dreams. Don’t be discouraged by all that lies ahead of you as the year draws to a close. Instead, determine to embrace the beautiful promises and opportunities laid out for you. Anticipate them bearing in mind, that they may come as tough challenges. As you can see, the beautiful lines in the photo, are set against a dark background, but notice the light still shines through brightly.
I have quite a few tough nuts to crack this week, but I also know that tough as they are, precious opportunities could and will emerge from them. I’m staying focused on how to harness the silver linings in the midst of the clouds and so should you as you step out today.
STAYING AHEAD with Ongoing Self Development:
This week, I begin an Executive Management program at Cambridge Business School which could run up to 12 months or more depending on how much time I can muster. The great thing is I can fit it into my business trips. My first course is on my all time favourite topic “Creating Winning Brands”. I’ll also be taking a blend of courses chosen around my key interests- on Strategic Marketing, Creating & Sustaining Competitive Advantage, Successful Negotiation Strategies, and Governance & Ethics.
Someone asked, why am I still studying areas where I already have significant competence and demonstrable business results? My simple response is, “good is the enemy of great”. We have to stay on the cutting edge and ahead of our past successes. Staying content with what you know is the biggest threat to achieving true greatness with what you are yet to know.
So as we embrace the pleasant promises of this week, let’s find new areas to improve in our personal lives, careers or businesses.
On a Final Note:
“The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance” should be your posture and mantra this week ahead.
A CLARION CALL: A call to Purpose
Excerpts of my message at This Present House on Sunday.
It is a Clarion Call for anyone who wants to be more than a census number, for those who want their lives to count. Work is great, but add purpose to it, and it takes on a whole new level of significance. Purpose makes you more diligent, more committed to excellence and more focused. Approaching your week in light of eternity gives you better perspective. Be nicer to people (#notetoself), smile more, show appreciation to everyone, refuse to be mediocre. Don’t also be afraid of men/women. Fear only He who has control over your life. Fear of men will short circuit your quest for a meaningful life. Fear no man. But respect everyone.
