What a truly magical month it has been. My month is ending on a very high note with news of my daughter’s admission to a top U.S university to study Political Economics and International Business. Our family is truly delighted and proud of her achievements.
Since success is at the core of what I teach, I thought this Magical Monday and end of Q1 would be a great opportunity to review the principles that led to her success, as those principles are the same at work, school or business.
1. SET A CLEAR TARGET: A very clear picture of what you want and where you want to go is critical for success. Anyone who has been reading this blog knows by now the importance I place on having clear goals. What were your goals for this month and 1st quarter? Are they crystal clear to you and everyone around you? Will you recognise when they are accomplished?
2. PAY THE PRICE: Good old diligent hard work is critical. No matter how great your dreams are, without working diligently towards them, chances are you won’t achieve much. My daughter studied day and night, diligently working on multiple curriculums and in many cases back to back lessons right after school just to achieve her goals. What sort of price are you willing to pay for your dreams?
3. REACH FOR THE STARS: We were 100% clear on the types of school we wanted for her and only applied to top tier schools. If you set compelling goals that stretch you, they command your attention and you end up a more confident person in the process of achieving them. Even if you don’t touch the stars, you end up somewhere others may never reach. Dare to dream. Dare to stretch your vision beyond what’s easily attainable. She didn’t achieve her 1st choice school but because she only set her eyes on the top tier schools and was willing to give it her all, even ready to do it again if necessary, her admission is one she’s truly proud of.
4. PRACTICE GRATITUDE: On the journey of success, you must remember to be grateful for your achievements. Ultimately the race is not to the swift. I believe this principle is very important. Practice gratitude for small and big strides; understand in that in the end, all true success comes from God and He will direct you in exactly the right path for you as you do your part.
Dream big. Pay the price. Be ready to land amongst the stars as we approach an amazing April ahead. Be a champion at work with the above principles.
Make Monday Magical not Dreaded.
Yours in success,
