Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others. ~ Danny Thomas
In ushering in Miraculous Magical March, I shared how nothing creates magic like helping others and giving them a leg up. Helping others isn’t always easy and may sometimes cost you time and money, but it is often worth it. Here are 5 ways Ignited Tycoons can help other businesses grow:
1. Share Your Knowledge
Teaching is one of the easiest ways to help others, and you don’t even require a classroom to do it. Whatever your area of expertise may be, there’s always an opportunity each day to educate someone. Even when I’m not giving interviews or speaking publicly at conferences or seminars, I’m sharing what I’ve learnt on Facebook, Twitter and here on my Blog. I’ve also given away countless copies of books that have impacted my life. What’s important is to keep learning, and sharing.
2. Spread the Word
The benefits of word-of-mouth marketing are not easy to measure, but they are undeniable. When a person speaks well of a product or service without having been paid to do so, the effect on others is often strong enough to propel them to try that product or service. When that person is a successful or well-liked person, the effect is amplified. I believe that if you enjoy or benefit from a product or service, you should refer them. Most people would do so when asked about it, but Ignited Tycoons find ways to mention upcoming businesses and products just to give them that leverage.
3. Introduce Them
One of the most important things an Ignited Tycoon can do for someone who is just coming up, is to introduce them to someone who can help them in any way. Successful people usually move in circles that aren’t easy for small business owners to enter. Making a simple introduction between two people whose paths may never have crossed otherwise is a huge gift that will go a very long way in building that young business. Just be sure to protect your credibility; nobody is perfect, but don’t waste your good will by introducing someone who isn’t straightforward, honest and professional. You don’t want any regrets.
4. Volunteer Your Time
Time is valuable. People who are worth your time understand this and are grateful when you make some for them. When you take time out of your day to help a friend, they remember it. For instance, volunteering to speak at a business event they are hosting for free or at a discount will make a huge impact on their business.
Ignited Tycoons also make time to mentor others who are on their way up. Even while pushing hard at my to do list, I make sure I keep my eyes open for “unplanned surprise opportunities” such as an impromptu mentoring session with an upcoming business owner who needs encouragement. It makes my day worthwhile to help someone gain clarity and new strength. Last week I spent over 2 hours with a young entrepreneur clarifying things for her. It was incredibly satisfying.
5. Give Them Recognition
If you’re impressed by someone’s service or product, you can recognise them in a number of ways. It can be something as simple as mentioning them in an article, speech or presentation, or nominating them for an award. My just concluded conference Ignite The Champion Within was a huge success and I couldn’t have done it without the help of excellent entrepreneurs like Dianna Bonner of WorldVision Photos, Rita Okoye of Majestically Rare and Keno Ogbo of Spiral Web Solutions, all of whom I gave strong mentions at the event, amongst others.
It may only take a few words, or clicks on an award website, but these are potentially life-changing ways to move that growing business to the next level.
As you encounter the magical, show others the way. Make a way for others to grow too. That’s what Ignited Tycoons do.
