Are you a Crumbled Tycoon or a Creative Tycoon? Crumbled Tycoons cave in and quit when the waves come crashing in, but Ignited Tycoons stand firm and press on. Here are 4 keys to unlock creativity in business, and do it with grace and integrity:
1. Have the Right Attitude
Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right. ~ Henry Ford
Every problem has a solution; you must have this firmly fixed in your mind. When you know that the solution exists, then you know you can find it, and you will find it. When you are unsure about whether or not a solution exists, you will definitely be lacking in the staying power needed to find it. Success is an inside job. It is a state of the mind. Success begins within you and is soon reflected in the world around you. Adopt a “can-do” attitude when faced with any challenge.
2. Engage your team
Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much. ~Helen Keller
Entrepreneurs who try to do it all by themselves, fail. Many of such people, because they want to be able to say “I did it!” place themselves under unnecessary pressure. There is absolutely nothing wrong with team work; in fact, every Ignited Tycoon knows the value of a strong team. People who love to hog credit rarely attain glory. Ignited Tycoons know the value of team work, and they also know to praise everyone for their contribution to breakthrough ideas. As an entrepreneur, always hire smart people, preferably even smarter than you, pay them what they’re worth and deliver creative solutions to your clients.
3. Keep Your Cool
“The pro is the person who has all the hassles, obstacles, and disappointing frustrations that everyone else has, yet continues to persist, does the job, and makes it look easy.” ~ David Cooper
When solutions aren’t forthcoming, pressure tends to mount. True, certain kinds of challenges can test your patience as an entrepreneur, but you must maintain your cool at all times. As an expert, your clients look up to you, and indeed it is up to you to keep them optimistic and enthusiastic. Your clients pay you to find solutions, and you can’t let pressure or situations make you look frazzled and lacking in grit. There must be no doubt that you are competent and capable of delivering excellently. Perception is vital in business, so watch the vibes you give off under pressure. The Ignited Tycoon is like the swan; serene on top, but paddling furiously underneath!
4. Be Persistent
A little more patience, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success. ~ Elbert Hubbard
Never give up, or buckle under pressure. Solutions are rarely ever a single idea. More often than not, a breakthrough idea is a combination of various ideas. This is why you must keep the ideas coming. It is not enough to come up with 5 or 10 and then stop brainstorming. Explore 100 options and ways to solve the problem. By the time you are at 66…voila, a solution! Even if you don’t find a solution at 66, you may start feeling more positive and optimistic.
“Think outside the box” is the popular advice encouraging creativity, but Ignited Tycoons know the truth: there is no box. Let your imagination run free.
Be creative. Be excellent.
